What is Formwork?

Formwork is the temporary or permanent mold into which concrete is poured to create walls, slabs, columns, and other structural elements. It's one of the most critical steps in any concrete construction project — if the formwork isn't built correctly, the entire structure is compromised. At A & A Setting Stone, our experienced crew designs and installs formwork systems for foundations, basement walls, columns, and slabs. We use quality materials and precise techniques to ensure your concrete sets perfectly every time, on time and on budget.

Our 3 Step Process

1. Design & Planning

We review your project plans and engineer a formwork system tailored to your structure's shape, load requirements, and pour schedule.

2. Formwork Installation

Our crew builds and installs the formwork with precision, ensuring it's properly braced, sealed, and ready to hold the concrete pour safely and accurately.

3. Stripping & Site Cleanup

Once the concrete has cured, we carefully remove the formwork, inspect the finished surface, and clean up the site — leaving a clean, solid structure ready for the next phase.

TESTIMONIALS

What others are saying

"I thought I knew what hardworking was"

"I tought I knew what "hard working" means but Bledi, Eric and their team raised the bar so high that I have to reconsider. I had a chance to use their expertise for my house in midtown Toronto and work with no one else as long as they are in business of helping the client with every aspect of the construction project."

- Babak Sharaji

"Amazed by the driveway"

"Totally amazed by the driveway that they did for me! The crew was professional, showed up on time every day, and kept the work area clean throughout the whole project. The finished result exceeded my expectations — the stonework looks absolutely incredible and has completely transformed the front of my home. I've already had neighbors ask me who did the work. Will definitely be calling A & A Setting Stone again for my backyard patio!"

- Ermal Kamperi

"Professional, Clean, & On-Time"

"We hired A & A Setting Stone for our basement underpinning and waterproofing. From the first call to the final walkthrough, the team was professional, transparent, and did exceptional work. Our basement has never been drier. Highly recommend them to anyone in the Toronto area."

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions homeowners and businesses ask us before starting a formwork project.

Question 1: What materials do you use for formwork?

We use high-quality steel, aluminum, and engineered wood formwork systems depending on the size and requirements of your project. The right material is selected based on the shape, load, and pour schedule to ensure a clean, precise concrete finish every time.

Question 2: How do you make sure the concrete pours correctly ?

Proper formwork is all about precision. Our crew carefully braces, seals, and levels every form before any concrete is poured. We inspect the entire system before the pour to ensure there are no gaps, weak points, or misalignments that could affect the finished structure.

Question 3: Can formwork be reused on multiple projects?

Yes — many of our formwork systems are designed to be stripped and reused. This helps keep costs down for our clients while maintaining the same high standard of quality on every pour.

Question 4: How long does formwork need to stay in place before it can be removed?

It depends on the type of concrete, temperature, and structural requirements. In most cases formwork can be stripped within 24 to 72 hours for walls and slabs. Our team monitors the curing process closely and only removes forms when the concrete has reached the required strength.

Question 5: Do you handle both small residential and large commercial formwork projects?

Absolutely. We work on everything from small residential foundation pours to large commercial concrete structures across Toronto and the GTA. No project is too big or too small for our experienced crew.
